1. Mom is out of the hospital and is relaxing at home. She won’t be able to see the neurologist until August 11th, at the earliest, so she’s just trying to live as stress-free as possible in the interim.

2. John Legend > Barry White.

3. I am exhausted. Long, long week. So much for my technology-free weekend.

Update – 7/20

I’ve been kind of on and off of the diet the last couple of weeks, but I’m still losing weight. Not as much as I did that first week, but getting there. I’m checking in at an even 230.0# tonight. I start back on the diet full time tomorrow, so wish me luck.

Update on Mom: status quo. No new information, she still hasn’t seen the neurosurgeon. Wish her luck.

Good. Lord.

Mom is in the hospital today, she was sent to the ER yesterday afternoon with two brain aneurysms. They were supposed to do an MRI last night but it didn’t happen. She was supposed to meet with the neurosurgeon this morning, but that didn’t happen, either. So she’s sitting in a hospital room in St. Joseph’s waiting to find out what exactly is wrong with her brain and how someone plans to fix it. She’s enjoying herself watching the Disney Channel (ugh) and waiting. Waiting.

I have not been to see her because I have an irrational phobia of hospitals. Maybe not so much a phobia of hospitals themselves, but I don’t like seeing people I know and care about so… disarmed. So she is going to call me when she knows something and then we’ll proceed from there. I guess.

If you’re the praying type, I’d appreciate a few words for her.

Alkaline Trio and Joy Division

Thanks to the miracle that is the interweb, I now know that Alkaline Trio’s “Help Me” is actually about Ian Curtis of Joy Division. Thanks, ‘Org. Oh, and those jerks that swiped Curtis’ grave marker are turds.

Here you’ll find me in between,
Heaven and hell my dear,
Where nothing’s what it seems,
It’s just as well I fear I’m giving you the creeps,
And a farewell kiss to go into the unknown.

Saw you standing there,
Outside the music hall,
You come out for some air,
A certain curtain call and everyone just stared,
When you took the stage that night,
Something’s not right.

You’re up there,
Took the stairs to the stars all alone,
You left all the lights burning but nobody’s home,
I believe they deceived your tuneful heart too long.

I swear I’m dying

ASPARTAME IS THE ENEMY!

So Begins Our Alabee…

The blogspot blog kind of froze up on me. I’m not sure how. The account is still there but I can’t log in to it. Oh well, here we are. Another blog. I hope to maintain this one a little more, but we’ll see how it goes.

In case you’re wondering, the header picture was taken at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore this spring.
